CAPE COD
RESIDENCE

\ LOCATION

Pacific Palisades, CA

\ SCOPE

This garden was a collaboration with my good friend, Brit Billeaud, of Dwell Design. The owners requested a garden that was in keeping with the Cape Cod style of their newly built custom home.

The experience begins upon entering the garden. The front approach consists of a meandering driveway of High-Desert flagstone. Swaths of fragrant thyme creep through some of the exposed mortar joints to give the garden a mature look.

Fruitless Olive trees arch over the planting beds filled with Ornamental grasses and other drought-tolerant Mediterranean plants such as Rosemary, Mexican needle grass, Westringias, Grevilleas and Pittosporum.

The rear garden was designed to focus one’s attention to the panoramic view of Rivas Canyon beyond. High-Desert stone was used on the pool coping and on the low planting walls to unify the space.

This garden was featured on the Pacific Palisades Garden Tour in 2001 and is still a work in progress.
